Discover the city

Girona is a city with a long and profound history. There are many mysteries and legends that have been passed down over the years, allowing us to glimpse into the lives of those who came before us. We will reveal the dark stories hidden in its streets on the Free Tour of Mysteries and Legends, one of our most special tours. We will talk about miracles, curses, the dreadful executions and tortures that took place outside the walls, and hidden corners that are only visible to the most observant.

Maximum Participants

Our tours are in small groups, with no more than 25 people in high season or weekends. If you are a larger group, please contact us and we can adapt to your needs.

Points of Interest

The Figure of Charlemagne

Considered the father of Western Europe, there are two legends that relate Charlemagne to Girona. One is about his throne, on which seculars were made to sit because it allegedly has magical properties. And the other is about his sword, which announces the end of the world.

Executions and Tortures

Outside the walls, executions of convicts were carried out in front of an enthusiastic audience. This was by no means the worst fate for these people, as the tortures of the time were extremely painful.

The Witch of the Cathedral

Curses and witchcraft were engraved in the collective imagination of Medieval Europe, and behind the cathedral we have a very special gargoyle with a sad story behind it.

The Cocollona

Half crocodile, half butterfly, it is alongside the fly one of the icons of the city. But who was the cocollona really?

Meeting Point

Plaça de Catalunya, 12, 17004 Girona

The meeting point is at Plaça de Catalunya, next to the 'La Gioconda' ice cream parlor. It's a two-minute walk from City Hall. It's right next to the Tourist Office. If you come by train or bus, it's about a 15-minute walk towards the river. If, on the other hand, you come by car, you can park at the same Plaça Catalunya in a paid parking lot. If you want to park for free, then you would have to move a little further away: to Parc de la Devesa.
